Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes by The Whisky Exchange
Nose
Very sweet and fruity in character, with orange, dolly mixtures and lemon sherbet.
Palate
Spicy to start followed by cherry, mango, plum, orange, grapefruit, coconut and ginger spice.
Finish
Medium, with the fruitiness fading to leave ginger.
Tasting Notes by Rocky
Nose
Overtly fruity and sweet in character with orange, dolly mixtures and lemon sherbet.
Palate
Warm and spicy at first sip, then the sweet fruit comes through, with cherry, mango, plum, orange, grapefruit, lemon sherbet, coconut and ginger all complementing the oily texture.
Finish
Medium in length, with the fruitiness only superseded by ginger spice at the very finale.
Comment
Another excellent Private Edition release, the wine casks have added an exceptional amount of fruitiness. It is very sweet, but this is tempered by the spicy ginger also present.
Producer's Tasting Notes
Colour
Copper beech.
Nose
At full strength, perfumed, sweet and spicy with hints of sugar cane, ripe fruits, sherbet lemons and fudge. With water, more candy sweetness (dolly mixtures, sugared plums and sweet candy), with the over-riding fragrance of sweet, buttery coconut. Sweet lemon and limes, with hints of exotic ripe melons.
Taste
A thick buttery, oily texture with a hint of tingling spices and a hint of chilli giving way to a sweet, luscious candy-like flavour followed by a mix of tart plummy fruit, candied orange peel, cherries, angelica and then more fruits such as peaches, nectarines, plums and melons.
Finish
Long and spicy, but always with a sweetness in the background, with flavours such as ginger, brown sugar, sweet tobacco and cake mix.

Sublime! Fruits, and spice and everything nice. Maybe not to everyone's taste particularly if you like peaty spayside whisky. This is one to share with special friends.
Im new to the whisky tasting game and have a sweet palate...so...so far I either like or dont like and milsean i like!.... Not as much as bacalta but very close!....as I've said in other reviews I've learned to go by style than character...the milsean has 4 stars for sweetness which I've found to be a good guide for sweetness as opposed to the sweet characters of Tomatin tawny port 14 year old....its anything but sweet!
Purchased for my husband for his birthday. Very fussy on his whisky but a fan of Glenmorangie - he loved it! Fast delivery, great service - would recommend!
When I first saw the tasting notes for this I have to say it caught my attention, my taste in whisky has always tended to favour sweeter malts and having enjoyed the extra matured Nectar d'Or also by glenmorangie I decided to take the plunge. And boy am I glad I did. Exceeded all my expectations. Sweet as it's gaelic name and bombastic in flavour, if you like sweeter malts like me then this is an unbridled success.
Absolutely fantastic
