Arran 2002 Reviews
Tasting Notes by Stuart P
Nose: Big and rich straightaway, with boozy cherries, brioche and nuts, winter spices and fruity notes of green banana and melon. There’s an intriguing savoury character, too: leather and tobacco leaf.
Palate: Lovely sherried richness: dates, roasted almonds, cinnamon, nutmeg and dried fruit, with no one element dominating. Robust and powerful at full strength; a little water tames the heat but the spiciness stays firm. A flavour-packed dram!
Finish: The rich spiciness lasts a long time, with a delicious dark-chocolate undercurrent.
Comment: This whisky packs in a heck of a lot of flavour despite its (relatively) young age. Don’t add too much water to this – a little goes a long way.
