Had a few glasses of it at a Silicon Valley company function but was way to drunk to remember the experience. Could have tasted like tequila for all I can remember. Came to this site to see what I missed. Kind of regret chugging them now and not taking home one of the empty bottles. I remember spinning one of the glass stoppers like a dreidel at one point until it fell off the naked sushi girl's table and broke into two pieces. Glad I didn't add a mixer to it at least.

You people in England do not know how luck and privileged you are to have this fun bottle of rum. It is the best in the world. I am living in the United States of America and it has been illegal here for over 50 years. Have shot glass of it at a restaurant or bar. Or buy one of the cheaper cuban rums. But if you can afford to buy this, please do. You can brag with friends and family about having it and stick to the Americans at the same time. :)

I had a double shot of this in a snifter that my wife and I shared on our honey moon in Bermuda. It was the greatest beverage I have ever tasted in my life BAR NONE. It is in a league of its own. Anyone who can afford a bottle is getting something special

    WOW!!! I want a bottle!!!!

  • george 21 September 2009

it hs a woody taste first than you taste the rum afterwards,

Had this 2 years ago at the Rum Club in Nottinghill. Fabulous and can almost still taste the rich coffee and vanilla flavours, however Ron Zapaca 23 Anos knocks it around for value.

Sorry but just cannot compete with Mount Gay Tricentennial - absolute bliss

  • Anonymous 11 June 2009

This is the epitome of all rums. You will never find anything better.

  • Matt 6 January 2009

Great rum, one off the best I've had but the price is not justified, I agree with Cal, Zacapa Centenario is better. Mount Gay Extra Old also compares favorably. If you do have the opportunity to try Maximo do yourself a favor and drink it slow as the taste changes significantly the more it breathes in the glass.

I second that, Ill slap anyone who tries to mix that thing.. Cannot taste, its forbidden in the US, so you guys describing the experiences is like blowing smoke on the face of somebody trying to quit smoking....

  • Cal 16 December 2008

Tasted it a few weeks ago. Great rum but certainly not worth 4-5 times as much as Havana Club's 15yr, and I still prefer Zacapa. Maximo has a promising pineapple and toaseted molasses nose but still lacks presence on the palate, especially when tasted next to a big heavy jamaican rum.

  • Anonymous 23 October 2008

This is NOT to be mixed with anything. Go to cuba and ask for Maximo and coke/pepsi and watch how fast a cuban slaps you in the face.As for the Rum itself the best i have ever had. Simply un-beatable.

  • Anonymous 13 October 2008

nice rum, overpriced i mean 6 or 7 hundred fine but its not a cognac so i do resent paying that much but spoiling it with mixers is criminal

  • Anonymous 14 September 2008

This is the best Rum in the world. No question about it. I will surely buy a new bottle when I finish the one I have. But again as some are saying, you have to enjoy it, think I will wait about 4 months before I order one.

  • Anonymous 8 September 2008

Laugh and joke as much as you like, when you can afford to drink it its worth every sinfull penny spent. Thats why I worked so hard to be where I am...

  • Goatergirl 12 August 2008

Two fingers with one ice cube,please.... no mixRespect the RUM

  • Anonymous 16 July 2008

You wouldnt mix this with anything, especially at that price. I do have a bottle of the 15 year old here at home and that is lush.. cost $80 in Cuba..

  • Mark McB 11 July 2008

A double measure is required and a rather large Cohiba or montecristo. Best enjoyed in Havana or the Cayos were the sea air brings it alive..

  • Anonymous 18 June 2008

i just want it. my turn to win the lottery this week so i'l tell you all what its like on monday!

  • Shep 28 May 2008

this is the kind of rum you buy not to drink but end up with it under your pillow empty. it should be drank with a small amount of ice and in a chilled glass for perfect flavour :)
