Product Description
A peated 2006 Loch Lomond single malt, matured for 13 years in a single refill American oak cask before being bottled exclusively for The Whisky Exchange in July 2019. Aromas of vanilla and toasted marshmallow fil the nose above a layer of barbecue ribs, green leaves and apple sauce. The palate is rich and smoky, with notes of mint chocolate, pine needles, sweet and sour apples, leather, cinnamon and rich peat smoke.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
Billy Abbott, The Whisky Exchange
Nose
Damp, oily and smoky in the best way. A British barbecue – grilling as the rain drips off green leaves – with toasted marshmallows, green apples and a hint of sea breeze. Richer fruit notes hide under the meatiness: glacé cherry and fruity barbecue sauce – HP on steroids.
Palate
Rich and thick, with stony peat smoke leading. Mint and menthol wash across the palate, dragging a leather bag of sweet and sour apples behind. A handful of mint choc chips and pine needles develops, along with hot cinnamon spice and cooling menthol.
Finish
Menthol lingers with gentle earthy smoke.
Comment
A well-balanced dram that shows off a few of Loch Lomond's extensive library of whisky styles: smoky, meaty and fruity, with a pinch of spice.

Excellent whisky. Liked the standard Lomond anyway and the peat adds that extra layer of enjoyment. Definitely worth a try if you like pleated whiskies, but perhaps have avoided the bigger flavoured ones from Islay.
My first try at this was quite overpowering. So intense with the sweet bbq meat that, combined with the peat made a very rich dram. But a few days later beyond the neck fill, that intensity had calmed a little to reveal a wonderful whisky with a lingering smoke complimented by the aforementioned sweetness. Slightly herbal, menthol, cigar lounge, and almost juicy. Definitely a success!
An excellent whisky. A good lingering taste, hints of sea with peat making a real impact on the taste buds. Glad I purchased a bottle.
