This is great with Lillet Blanc in an El Presidente. Also good in various tiki cocktails, although there's usually a better option (but probably also more expensive). As a sipping rum it didn't work for me though - alcohol burn & barrel wood crowding out the molasses / caramel flavours.
Good vanilla & spice flavor. Strong not smooth; would get better as it ages on a shelf.
I'm always on the look out for something new. But sometimes it's nice to enjoy the greats I've sampled along the way. And this is one of the greats. A smooth finish that's perfect on its own or with a mixer. If you haven't already tried this, what are you wanting for, it's literally the oldest rum in the world. And one of my favourites.
This is a great rum at the price point, real value for money.
