The first release in Tobermory distillery's Sinclair Series, this smoky Ledaig single malt has been made with heavily-peated barley and finished in hand-selected Rioja casks. Aromas of Turkish Delight, candied orange peel, leather, black pepper and dark chocolate fill the nose, complemented by notes of almond, raspberries, vanilla, cinnamon and freshly cut grass on the palate over rich waves of savoury peat smoke.

Absolutely amazing whisky. It's characterful, it's punchy, it's aromatic. You can feel the red wine lovely integrated into the peat, giving some third element, like a river moss.
This dram has more depth than I expected from a non-age statement whisky in this price range. Leather dominates at first but then Turkish Delight, Cherry Ripe and salted caramel come through for a well calibrated combination of the smoky and the sweet.
To be honest, I initially ordered this as kind of a novelty because I am descended from the Sinclair's. But after tasting it, I was blown away by how good and complex it is. More than worth the money I paid to have it shipped across the pond.
I bought this to protect my Ledaig 18, but I found a diamond in the sand, this is a bang for buck star, the colour in the glass is amazing but you always have that Ledaig taste and smell, great value dram. Shame about the quick price jump from £33-0 to £38-0 but hey ho .
Bought this in the distillery shop, along with the 10yo. Both gorgeous, but the rich red colour in this bad boy just grabs your attention the minute you remove the bottle from the box. Leather on the nose is prominent for me, but the peat is hidden. Grass comes through first on tasting, a little brine and then much later, a big King Edward kick of cigar smoke lasts and lasts. I love all things Ledaig. Keep up the good work Tobermory. Can't wait for my next visit.
