VAT 69 is a famous old brand of blended whisky, chosen by Sir Ernest Shackleton to accompany him on his Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition of 1914 'for medicinal and celebratory purposes', and also famously the favourite whisky of Captain Lewis Nixon of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, immortalised in the book and TV series Band of Brothers.

They don't sell this in the US. If they did I believe it would be the most purchased scotch whiskey in the country within a few years. Nothing drinks this good at this price in the states. Bar none.

An exceptional whisky with a flavor that excels in taste and effect. It has been my favorite whisky for nearly 50 years and I am astonished, and grateful, that is has maintained a price that is exceedingly below its true value.

A beautiful blended whiskey, smooth to the taste buds and easy on the wallet. Knocks other similar priced blends out of the water.

Doesn''t pinch the pocket, yet has the smoothness of a good whiskey!! Brand that doesn''t survive on advertising hype but on its understated merits of taste, smoothness and after-taste.Real value for money whiskey :))

Not really a massive fan of Blended Whiskies - but I mentioned to the missus I''d be willing to try Vat 69 because of Band of Brothers - she bought me some for my birthday as a surprise and I really like it! Spicy at first but very smooth and creamy aftertaste. Captain Nixon had very good taste! A good place to start if you''re a Speyside drinker looking to try a Blended Scotch.

Great Whisky and an excellent prize-quality relation... Better than 100 Pipers and Teacher?s, his natural competitors in the market.
