This is one of Italy’s iconic wineries with 75 hectares of vines in the heart of Chianti Classic. La Casuccia is a combination of certain parcels of the vineyards that is 12.5 hectares, some that was planted in 1978 and that were identified as having superior terroir. It is a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot that is only produced in the best vintages and in limited quantities – 2011 was just one of those vintages. This wine shows great concentration with notes of old leather armchairs, black cherry, and a hint of rosemary and autumn leaves.
