This is a chance to enjoy the three winners of our 2024 Spirits of the Year. This year saw fierce competition from many worthy producers, and after much deliberation we landed on a whisky from one of Scotland’s most versatile distilleries, a bold and funky rum from Jamaica and a zesty Australian gin.
The winner of our Whisky of the Year, is the impressive Loch Lomond 18 Year Old , which was matured in American oak casks creating a full, fruity character that is emblematic of its style. There are abundant notes of orchard fruit, berries and toffee, with wisps of smoke on the finish.
We are delighted to be championing Hampden Estate’s eight-year-old rum , which is produced in the same way as when the distillery was founded in the 18th century. This spirit was matured in Jamaica and is laden with tropical fruit notes redolent of ripe banana, pineapple, coconut and orange zest on the palate.
Last but not least is our Gin of the Year, hailing from Australia’s Yarra Valley. A proprietary blend of whole oranges , lavender, cardamom, pepperberry and lemon myrtle are distilled in a pot still – named after one of the founder’s mothers. This is a citrus-forward gin with hints of spice and florals.
