After numerous Preludiums, all of which have been incredibly successful, Sweden's first single malt whisky Mackmyra makes its full debut. Interestingly, some roasted Swedish oak casks were used in the maturation.

Tasting Notes

  • Tasting Notes by Rocky L

Nose: Fruit led, with green apples, pears and a hint of mango.

Palate: Creamy texture, with apple, pear and dried apricots; a clove spiciness from the Swedish oak, and a vanilla undertone.

Finish: Medium, with the vanilla the last flavour to dissipate.

Comment: This is the expression that put Swedish whisky on the map, and it’s still going strong six years later – the distillery’s benchmark bottling doesn’t disappoint.

The first bottle I bought at the specialist Whisky shop at Heathrow Airport Terminal 1, on a mission to find something truly different, but exceptional. Mackmyra - First Edition, is simply delicious. It is pale in colour, tasting smooth and sweet, with raisins and bananas and a warm finish. I have bought and finished a few bottles, since it was released and I am instantly enchanted each time I take the first sip.

very pleasantly surprised, i thought i would be drinking a harsh fire water yet , this is almost too smooth to be a whiskey ,really easy drinking sweet in flavor, nothing like a scotch lovely drink,

Seems to be a very young whisky, propably only 3 yo. The nose is very nice, bourbon like and some banana too. The palate is fruity, raw and unbalanced. Disappointment, I must say. This is simply too young, it's not finish yet.

Very complex and satysfying. The artisan beaty really shines through. I was given that in Sweden from my family with love.

Beautiful whisky this. Pale in colour, light on the palate and delicate to taste. Can highly recommend this to new and experienced drinkers alike.
