Very funky, musty, earthy and vegetal. A sumptuous, elegant and extremely flavorful armagnac, but it can also be finicky and unwilling to show its best qualities right out of the gate. After opening seven bottles, I’ve had four that were absolutely mind blowing and three that were tainted by a very strong odor of sulphur. Over time these off notes do dissipate but two bottles I opened were unable to overcome that unfortunate addition. At its best you cannot find another Tenareze Armagnac that is better than Aurensan. No brand is perfect every time, but at this price point bottle variation should not be as drastic as I have found. If you have six months or longer to let a bottle oxidize and open up then I would highly recommend buying this.
Tried it while on vacation in Disney Spring Florida and it was a love at first sip.
Absolutely magnificent. My boyfriend is a huge Scotch efficionado and fell absolutely in love with this 30 year olf Brandy while on vacation in Disney Springs, Florida.
Upon opening a second bottle I found a very strong note of rotten egg and it followed through to the taste. After letting the bottle oxidize for several months the rotten egg note almost completely went away. I wanted to toss the bottle when I opened it, but I am glad that I stayed the course. In the end it's a very competent Armagnac if you give it the time it needs to fully open up.
Absolutely Top Notch! I can't imagine another Armagnac tasting better than this.
