Product Description
This seven-year-old Nc’nean was matured in a Calvados cask and bottled exclusively for The Whisky Exchange. Fresh apples, citrus zest and soft herbs lead into a gently waxy palate, with notes of green pear, chamomile, lemon balm and a hint of ginger. The Calvados influence adds quiet depth without overshadowing the delicate, organic spirit at its core.

Tasting Notes
-
Billy Abbott, The Whisky Exchange
-
Nose
Creamy toffee and hazelnuts, créme brûlée and oatcakes. Crisp barley sugar contrasts against savoury grain, alongside sweet and sour orchard fruit.
-
Palate
Sweet and creamy, with white chocolate, apple sauce, crunchy pears and white peppery spice. Flapjack grain notes develop along with more apple: sharp green and sweet red.
-
Finish
Oat cookies with dried apple chunks and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Nose
Vanilla and caramel immediately fill the nose, with golden hay and cinnamon close behind. Brown sugar and apple tart appear, before a lively wave of lemon zest and hints of peppery spice.
-
Palate
Starting off fruity and tart, it builds quickly to notes of crystalised ginger, baked apple and oak spice. Layers of citrus and baking spice lie underneath, with a hint of savoury straw.
-
Finish
A touch drying and peppery with caramel apples and ginger biscuits lingering behind.
-
Carefully Crafted
This bottling is part of the Aon collection – meaning 'one' in Gaelic – a series of hand-picked single casks of unique character. Though Nc'nean's rise to prominence has been remarkably rapid, at the distillery itself they like to take things slowly. This applies to malting organic Scottish barley, fermenting with high-ester yeast, and distilling – slow distillation allows for more copper contact and results in a clean and fruity new-make spirit. This whisky has been matured in an ex-Calvados cask, adding soft layers of baked apples and caramel to the fruity single malt.
Made by Nature
Nc’nean distillery is nestled on the wild west coast of Scotland. Its picturesque surroundings give inspiration to its beautiful bottles, which are made with 100% recycled glass and adorned with local Scottish flora. Once you scratch beyond the vibrant surface, you’ll find a distillery that does business in accordance with its values – a fact best illustrated by its rigorous approach to sustainability and B Corp certification. Happily, Nc’nean delivers on flavour too, showing us that great whisky doesn’t need to be hard on the planet.
