Panamanian Rum

Panamanian Rum

Rum

Ron Abuelo is made using only 100% Panamanian-grown sugarcane honey from Hacienda San Isidro in Pesè. The rums, all column-distilled, are crafted by blending two styles: a light, clean rum distilled to a higher proof, and an aromatic base rum with exotic flavours. This blend is then aged in oak barrels, imparting extra notes of vanilla and caramel.

Panamanian Rum Rum

"Abuelo" means "grandfather" in Spanish, reflecting the brand’s heritage as Panama’s oldest rum producer. The history of Valera Hermanos, S.A. dates back to 1908, when José Varela Blanco, a young Spanish immigrant, founded the San Isidro Sugar Mill in Pesè, the first such mill in the newly established Republic of Panama. The Varela family distillery, now run by the third generation, continues to cultivate its own sugar cane, overseeing 100% of the production process. The cane is hand-harvested before the liquid is distilled and aged on the estate, which spans nearly 3,000 acres.
