St Remy
The origins of St-Rémy lie in the prestigious Cognac brand Rémy Martin. When the latter's vineyards were damaged by phylloxera in 1886, Paul-Emile Rémy Martin II discovered land in Machecoul where the grapes (Gros Plant) were similar to the Folle Blanche used to create their Cognac. He set up a distillery there and began to produce St-Rémy with the attention to quality and flavour that was the hallmark of Rémy Martin.
