Sherry Week 2026
Early November marks Sherry Week, a chance to celebrate and discover some of the most distinctive wines in the world and which in turn play an important role in shaping some of our favourite drams. At The Whisky Exchange, we have the UK's largest selection of sherries and across this week we're going to be opening and sharing the vast majority of them during the afternoon in our stores.
The ties between Scotland and Jerez stretch back centuries. Sherry was historically shipped to Scotland in wooden casks. On arrival, the sherry was emptied from the casks and enjoyed as quickly as it arrived. The empty casks were then seized on by enterprising whisky makers to age their whisky. The most typical style would have been a variation on oloroso, a dark nutty sherry, which remains the most popular style for casks now.
Join us in-store to follow those flavours back to the source and discover toasty Fino, briny Manzanilla, nutty Oloroso, savoury Amontillado, complex Palo Cortado, fruity Cream and luscious Pedro Ximenez. Best of all it's free.
