Port and Port Cask Whisky with Quinta do Vale Meão (4 June 2026 19:30-21:30)

Port and Port Cask Whisky with Quinta do Vale Meão

The Douro is one of the world’s most exciting wine regions. It is an extreme landscape. The slopes of the valley are some of the steepest in the world, the summer sun hammers the landscape, the winters can be freezing cold. All of this can make for wines of incredible concentration, depth and power.

It has long been known as the home of Port, that majestic fortified wine, but producers are now adapting, evolving and forging ahead with new styles and expressions. Quinta do Vale Meão was one of the pioneers of still wine making in the Douro, with their unique terroir producing wines of admirable quality.

This tasting on 4 June at our Great Portland Street store will start with a welcome glass of Meandro do Vale Meão Tinto, before turning towards the fortified expressions of the house. This will see Raymond Reynolds compare their 10 year old Tawny to two vintage expressions. On the whisky side Billy Abbott has curated a lineup of White Peak Wire Works Port Cask, Glen Scotia Campbeltown Festival 2026 Ruby Port Finish and Kavalan Concertmaster Port Cask Finish.

Raymond is one of the UK’s leading experts in Portuguese wine and Port. Over the past 30 years he has worked as a winemaker in the region before establishing his own importer to celebrate the diverse, brilliant wines of the country.

Billy is the ambassador for The Whisky Exchange. His passion and knowledge for whisky, and spirits more widely, is unparalleled.
