Balvenie has produced fruity single malt with a honeyed softness since 1892. Gentle, but certainly not short on character, the Balvenie spirit shows remarkable affinity for a multitude of different cask types. This natural ability to harmonise with other flavours led this Dufftown distillery to become an innovator in cask finishing and fostered a creative approach to maturation that is very much alive today. Though each cask of whisky has its own qualities, every so often one among the many distinguishes itself for its exceptional quality. This single bourbon barrel was selected by Balvenie’s warehouse and samples coordinator George Paterson and malt master Kelsey McKechnie for its balance of sweet American oak vanilla, candied citrus and roasted malt. A beautiful expression of the Balvenie distillery character.

A monument to Balvenie’s experimental spirit, this was matured in French oak casks once used to make the traditional aperitif Pineau des Charentes. Sweet grape notes mingle with that instantly recognisable honeyed spirit to create a soft, inviting palate framed with warming oak spices. This elegant single malt serves as a reminder that even after more than 130 years in the business, Balvenie continues to innovate.
