About Old Pulteney

Pulteney distillery was built in 1826 in Wick, the historic Caithness fishing port at the northern end of Scotland’s western coast. Production continued until 1930, when prohibition was introduced in Wick – a ban on alcohol that lasted an agonising 17 years! Old Pulteney eventually reopened in the early 1950s, and was substantially rebuilt towards the end of that decade.

Now owned by Inver House distillers, Old Pulteney has been rescued from being merely a blending ingredient in recent years and is now well-known for producing sought-after fruity, malty, sweet and salty single malts.
