Westland 2014

Seven Year Old | Marsala Finish

70cl / 53.8%

Selected and bottled exclusively for The Whisky Exchange, this Seattle single malt was made at the innovative Westland Distillery. Showcasing its signature five-malt mashbill, the whiskey was first matured in new American oak for five years, before being finished in an ex-Marsala cask for just shy of three years. This has created layers of sweet dried fruit, toasted nuts, Italian pastries and citrus oil throughout the palate and lingering in the finish.

Westland Distillery

To hear Westland tell it, the mountainous and forested landscapes of America’s Pacific Northwest bear a striking resemblance to the glens of the Old World – Scotland. It was these resemblances which inspired Westland to strike its own path through whiskey; an exploration of traditional single malt-making techniques with a view to produce a spirit which remains uniquely American in character.

Harnessing the raw materials and culture of its home in Seattle, Washington,Westland has created its own signature five-malt mashbill and uses both ex-sherry casks and American oak barrels to mature its whiskey.
