Evan Williams's standard green labelled bourbon, a great all-round whiskey at a very nice price.

Have been drinking bourbon since the mid 1970's. Drank Makers Mark since 2000, and then Old Forrester for the last 4 years. Switched to Evan Williams green label and never looked back. Drink it on the rocks just like the others. I find it to be just about my exact taste preference with a slight bite, but not too much.

I've tried a lot of mid shelf whiskeys, and this one seems to be my preferred according to my taste. It's really smooth, and doesn't have that bitter charcoal aftertaste. If you look around you can find it at a really low price. The only way I enjoy this whiskey is straight and neat.

Surprisingly good for the price. So long as you're not looking for refined flavors or composition, it has a distinct charcoal taste that (to my palette) almost has an apple-ish tint to it. Quite surprising and unexpected. For the price, would highly recommend it.

Light taste. Mixed with a little spring water --nectar! Can't find it any more, if could I'd buy a few cases.

If you consider the price (which is quite low), this is a good bourbon in general. It's best used for highballs or other mixed drinks, but it can be pleasant if sipped neat. It's not nearly as refined or flavorful as the "black label," but that might not be a deciding factor depending on the intended use of the bourbon.

Acceptable but big difference if you prefer Black label .

I agree with the Black being the best. I sent my wife to the store to get a 175 Ltr, but she came home with the green label. I didn't want to make her mad, so I said I would try the Green Label. First drink/mouth burn for a couple seconds, then not bad but not Black. Glad I got to compare.

    Because it's a younger bourbon.

First time getting the green. Not bad at all but well worth the extra few bucks for black. Sweeter more carmel like flavor.

Green is aged only 4 years and is only 80 proof. I do not think that it is a smooth as the black which is aged 5 to 7 years and is 86 proof. There is a big difference in the taste, if you like the black label then I would say go ahead and try the green, if you don't like it you do not have alot invested in it.

    Why is Green Label cheaper?
