Intense and untamed (in a good way). Burnt rope, pure white smoke, ashy, oily, resinous. Beautiful and in your face.
A beautiful yet powerful dram from one of my favourite distilleries. The balance of peat and sweetness is sublime with just the right level of maritime oiliness...and the finish just goes on and one. A spectacular dram in my humble opinion. I bought three!
This is one amazingly concentrated malt. Of course, it needs some water to be enjoyed at its best. Better yet, I found it has the miraculous property of rescuing lesser bottles that you may regret purchasing. Lately for me, adding just a small amount to a Crown Royal Reserve and Clynelish 12 yo made a huge difference and saved my guests from having to drink that stuff with a fake smile on their faces..
My first 12 CS from Laga C : light strawyellowN : a lot of ( wet ) earthy peat; below that sweet apples and vanilla.T : the apples and vanlilla return with a whif of (acacia) honey while the peat takes on a more sea like character; smoked fish with water.F : long with a pleasant sensation on in the mouth which last forever. A finish you will experience still the next morning This all means I will surely try 1 from former years to compare and enjoy!!
