Frapin Chateau de Fontpinot XO Cognac Reviews

Tasting Notes

  • Tasting Notes by Stuart P

Nose: Dark and enticing, with aromas of stewed prunes and raisins, baked apples and honey, plus cinnamon and nutmeg.

Palate: Heady notes of dried apricots and spicy ginger, along with nutmeg, toasty oak and bitter orange marmalade. Rich and mouthfilling.

Finish: The warming spice and dried fruit linger, giving a pleasant finish.

Comment: A delicious Cognac that is rich and full flavoured, but never overblown, with the dry spices balancing well with the aromatic fruit.

  • Tasting Note by Alyona

Nose: Dry, chocolate orange nose and a slight rancio on the end,
with a distinct drying laundry note underneath.

Palate: Sweet, milk chocolate on the start, subtle vanilla notes
around the edges yet still quite woody, leading into the spicy finish.

Finish: Slowly building ginger spices, dried orange peel and strong
    rancio notes.

  • Producer's Note

    Colour: warm golden fall

Bouquet: delicate and elegant. The woody fragrances disappear to let the floral bouquet develop at its best: vanilla, hawthorn and wild flowers.

Palate: long lasting aromas, such as old Port and the famous « Rancio » This « Rancio » is characterised by nuts, walnuts and dried fruits savours melted with dried flowers, such as apricot and orange jam. A well-balanced complex bouquet, due to the distillation with the lees.

Fine and delicate, with great definition of flavor. Certainly still some heat, as 20yrs is not so long for Gr. champ., but it's worth it.
