Oh yeah, 23 yo bourbon aged scotch. Balblair is one of my new discoveries and I cannot believe I haven't jumped on this before. This stuff is sublime. Like spicy vanilla ice cream.
Awards for this dram: Gold Medal - Scotch Single Malt - Highland - at the 2013 International Wine & Spirit Competition. Bronze Medal - Premium - 2013 Malt Maniacs Awards. One last comment: Balblair, in my very personal opinion, is the Highland counterpart of what Macallan of Speyside was once: smooth, unadulterated, full of character and distinct in every imaginable way. Thank you Balblair.
Distilled in 1989 and bottled in 2012, making this fabulous dram 23 YO. Matured in ex-bourbon barrels. Very smooth dram with significantly creamy body to it, rich and sweet with distinct cereal and vanilla notes; vibrant and interesting as opposed to many drams that are sweet and dull. Un-chillfiltered and natural color, like the rest of Balblairs, quite incredible dram and great value. 91/100
