A dark amber-gold, full sweet vanilla delicately smoked with a rich and long lasting finish. Glenfarclas 21yo is delicious stuff, and a bargain at this price.

Glenfarclas 21 Year Old Reviews

Tasting Notes

  • Tasting Notes by Billy A

    • Nose:

Caramel and raisins through the middle, with orange pith, the beginnings of old rancio, and forest aromas of bark, earth and damp leaves.

    • Palate:

Thick and sweet, with less complexity than the nose, zeroing in on brown sugar, stewed orange segments and lightly spiced syrup. A drop of water opened out the body a bit, softening the syrup hit and bringing out more fruit, with apples, apricots and blackcurrant leaves, as well as a bit more crunchy caramel sweetness.

    • Finish:

Lingering spice and a soft citrus tang.

  • Producer's Note

    • Colour:

      Dark amber-gold.

    • Nose:

Intense, full of aromas – sherried fruit, tropical fruit, nutmeg and almonds with slight citrus notes at the end, all held together with a vanilla sweet smokiness.

    • Flavour:

Full bodied rich and rounded develops slowly into fruity, smoky and spicy flavours.

    • Finish:

Long-lasting, smooth a smoky with a chocolate feel at the back of your throat.

    • Comment:

An incredibly rounded whisky that leaves you refreshed and contented. A whisky that always deserves a second glass. My personal favourite.

Really smooth, barley oaty taste with a hint of citrus & sweetness. I’m new to 21yr olds so not a lot to compare it to but loved it!

Sultanas on the nose, vanilla on the palate, lingering fruit. Very nice indeed. Not the huge sherry I expected but enough to please sherry heads. I much prefer this without water. I have also sampled the 15, 25 and 20 but the 21 is my favourite.

"Nose" (undiluted) Powerfully minty! menthol cigarette taste (but in a good way). Some medical bandages too. "Palate" (undiluted) Huge sherry! Da bomb! Oak abounds too. Salty milk chocolate. "Finish" (undiluted) Mint leaves, peppercorns, basil, lemon and pistachio flourish.

A very tempting nose with fruit, soft vanilla and parfume like rose leaf. A bit one sided palate, not much complexity to me. The finish is short, but pleasant. I think 15 yo Glenfarclas is much better than 21 yo. The older isn't always or even most of the time the better.

Sampled in a large cognac glass with a tiny splash of water. Nose: big, sherry, ginger, spice, Scottish tablet, vanilla. Taste: dark chocolate, digestive biscuits, nutty, toffee, with a smooth burst of flavours. Finish: Long, persistent, pleasing with good finesse. A classy dram for a good price.

Nose: Lots of nose, oak and harsh wood. Of course vanilla, nuts and sherry.Taste: Again, harsh, wood, strong and bold. Bubbly and lovelySummary: Lots of character, peppery, very nice balance. Light and a feeling of summer. Smooth and complex. Not that much sherry as hoped but still a great whisky.

I had a shot of this this in a bar and was very impressed. In Canada I have to pay $125 for a bottle, so they corrected the price upwards :), but i'll still make it my next bottle. You guys, enjoy this bargain!

This is my absolute FAVORITE whiskey, by far. Amazing finish.

Very nice dram worth more than it costs in my opinion. The nose is dying good!
