Product Description
A 1998 vintage Aultmore from indie bottler Speciality Drinks Ltd as part of the Single Malts of Scotland range. Aged for 15 years in cask number 2619, this is weightier than the distillery’s regular releases. It's still classic Aultmore though: oily and buttery with orchard fruit. Bottled at cask strength it can take water well, revealing more complexity and spice.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes by Billy A
Nose
Sweet with a touch of clove and menthol to start, with icing sugar and black liquorice behind. Despite those traditionally heavy flavours this is still quite light, with lemon sherbet, fruity jelly and pine coming through.
Palate
Quite oily, with lots of sweet butter up front. Hint of barrel char accompany woody spice and sweet apple, with apple skin and woody tannins providing a balance against the sweetness. Water rolls back some of the sweetness to reveal more orchard fruit, polished oak and tingling woody spice.
Finish
Warming, with damp wood touches, apple skin and sweet cinnamon.

Quite different from the distillery editions, more light, some people may find it very interesting to taste pine and apple at the same time, but it is a definitly a "don't miss!"
Nose Apple pie, raisins, fruity, delicate and fragrant; after some time a hint of grappa develops. Taste Again apple pie, shortcrust, marzipan, slightly grainy (rye), oak is present but remains well in the background. Finish Long and intense, over time the oak becomes more noticeable than initially, but never dominant Comments Delicate sipping dram for a quiet evening. Marvellous!
