Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

  • Tasting Notes by Billy A

    • Nose

Heavy, especially for a grain whisky, with vanilla scented candles, caramel shortbread, touches of cinnamon and nutmeg, and dried mango.

    • Palate

Oily, but delicate, with heather honey, toffee and directly sweet gomme syrup to start, developing into more complex flavours with buttery apple sauce, pastry and more of the heather honey from the nose.

    • Finish

Rolled oats and sweetened granola fade into apples and a touch of burnt toffee.

    • Comment

Sweet and grainy, as one might expect from a grain whisky, but with delicate spice and fruit.

  • Producer's Note

    • Nose

Rich and luxurious on the nose with layers of oaky vanilla, creamy toffee and a cinnamon. With a little water there are subtle citrus, marmalade notes.

    • Taste

Velvety smooth with an incredibly sweet flavour. Crème Brule, toffee apple, nutmeg and an intriguing citrus note. With time the flavour evolves into deeper, richer notes including chocolate orange and baked apple pie.

    • Finish

      Lingering sweetness.

  • Tasting Notes by Chris B

    • Nose

Toffee syrup, nutmeg, woodiness with a hint of gunpowder and cereal notes. Very expressive.

    • Palate

More toffee with some mango and dried apricot, English hops, old bookshelves or church pews, creamy vanilla and apple tarte Tatin.

    • Overall

A condensed character and patisserie feel to it - much fruitier on the palate than the nose would suggest.
