Kilchoman Loch Gorm / Sherry Cask / Bot.2015
Product Description

The third annual release of Loch Gorm, Kilchoman's sherry-cask-matured expression. Building on the previous releases, this edition has some spirit matured in sherry hogsheads, as well as the usual oloroso butts. Bottled at around five years of age, it's an intensely smoky and sherried whisky, but carefully balances the peat and fruit.

loch gorm, machir bay, ardbeg 10, ledaig 10, laphroig 10, dun bheaghan 2009, all top hits for me. gorm is treasured most as it doesnt make it off Islay often enough and will be remembered even though it is only a young pup. Great job!

Absolutely delicious. This has become perhaps my favourite Islay peated whisky.

This is simply one of the most sublime young whiskies I think i''ve ever tried. I cant believe that a 5 year old whisky can pack so much punch. There is your classic Islay smoke and peat, but obviously because its quite young the peatiness is quite subtle versus say a laga or Ardbeg. This toned down peat allows other flavours to rise up, so I could taste notes of chocolate, marzepan and im sure I detected a note of vanilla. The whisky is finished off in sherry butts so this made for a decidedly enjoyable sweet and smoky finish. Overall The flavours were very well balanced and I found the drink to be even smoother when mixed with a drop of water. At face value this drink looks quite expensive for a 5 year old, but give it a try you will not be disappointed. 85/100
