This exceptional Irish whiskey was created to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Midleton Very Rare. In 1984, just three years after becoming master distiller at Midleton, the now retired Barry Crocket launched this landmark series to showcase the very finest casks in his warehouses. Each of these limited-edition Waterford crystal decanters contains pot still and grain whiskies laid down by Mr Crockett and his two successors – Brian Nation and Kevin O’Gorman – all finished in a single ruby port cask. In the glass it bursts with fresh summer berries and notes of chopped mango, crème brulee, toasted cinnamon and honeycomb leading to a long velvety finish. A fitting tribute to four decades of distilling history.
