Ma1 – Elements of Islay Reviews
Nose: The nose is delicate with a gentle spicy and a sweet undertone, and lightly salted walnut bread. The peatiness is subtle, and with time and water releases a lot more zestiness as well as warm flavours of peppery flapjacks and sweet charcoal. At the back of the palate there is a light dustiness, polished furniture and chalk.
Palate: Stronger spice leads, with black pepper and cumin oat cakes. The whisky has a creamy and nutty texture, with roasted walnuts, brown bread and a macadamia sweetness. Underneath the sweeter notes, it has wet, damp, driftwood on the beach, date-filled Moroccan sweets, nuts and spice and a hint of chalk.
Finish: Lingering dustiness with a hint of 85% dark chocolate. The dirty smoke evolves into matchboxes and ash.
