2018 edition has essence of burnt rubber which overwhelms and hint of the dram hidden under it. How anyone can bottle this is beyond me.

A very lovely peated malt, smooth with much flavor.Very close to Caol Ila, just a little bit sweeter.Would love to know where it is destilled as just 7% of Caol Ila is sold as Caol Ila.

I just received this bottle Oct. 2018 and frankly I’m extremely disappointed. After reading the reviews I was expecting something quite different. This dram is horrible. Smokey yes but with a sulfur finish which not nice at all. I added water and let the glass sit for quite a while it made little to no difference. I’ll leave the bottle open overnight and if it’s any better in a couple of weeks. As it stands now just horrible. I like many Islay offerings, even young ones, but this is going to poured down the drain if there isn’t a big improvement with time. Looks like 2017 may have been the year to get it. This one is putrid.

I have visited Scotland recently and I have tried many whiskies and this is the one to have, it’s very costly in Scotland but the price on here is worth buying it by the box. It’s smooth no need to add anything. Top draw whiskey 10/10

I'm not peated whisky's biggest fan but I absolutely loved this. A fine recommendation by the man that's in the know at Fynne Malts of Inverarray.

Stunning. For me it stands with Corryvreckan, so for the price it's a no brainer. One of my favourites.

Bang for your buck Islay muscle. A real whirlwind of a dram. You could spend more elsewhere but end up with less. Fantastic value

Excellent. Peaty but not harsh. Good aftertaste. Best with a little water.

I was sure this was a Laphroaig, but now the second half of the bottle makes me think I was wrong. Wherever it comes from it's a damn fine dram for the price

Fed up of drinking bland insipid whisky...?Get a bottle of this bad boy....but don''t love it too much, cause it''ll kill ya..!!

Fantastic Whisky almost through my second bottle very warming neat but very tastey nice and peaty, with a bit of water it opens up the flavour and aroma and you can sit back and enjoy the peat and smoke for a little longer before needing a refill

  • Sigurhans 7 July 2013

Very good and alot of smoke when you put one teaspoon of water, then it open up all the flavor and aroma but can of course be used without the water but I like it more with tiny water in the glass.

No matter from which distillery comes from, this dram belongs to the premier league of the big Scottish malts. An excellent sample of the great islay tradition. And when its price is taking into account,is a medal winner!

I've been talking lots of times about this one. It is maybe an old tick from all the Islay's distillers. Like, every once in a while, it's made by a different distillers! Because, mine is Caol, I'm perfectly sure of that. But I've just tasted an older Ileach and it's not the same whisky. Maybe that's the secret...

This is not Caol Ila but it is usually from a distillery from that stable, it is also a fantastic dram, full on rich malt sweet-kipper smoke with lots of youthful bounce.

Pure Caol Ila... A real young peat but good stuff. Powerful, take a deep breath from the atlantic coast. Good deal for the price! Add 20% of water to enjoy it to the max... Oh, for the fact, this is Caol... I'm not sure, I know!!!
