The ongoing Machir Bay series is a vatting of whisky matured in first-fill bourbon casks for around six years, married and then finished in oloroso sherry butts before bottling. It's become a flagship for Kilchoman and characteristic of the Islay distillery's style.
There’s plenty of brine, plenty of smoke and a good amount of peat, and all quite bright and fresh without a dusty and heavy sherry-cask robe. This is an Islay dram allowed to speak for itself – what more could anyone want? Oliver James McKinley, The Whisky Exchange

Lemon zest, vanilla and distinct coastal influence give way to floral intensity, juicy peaches, pears, and wafts of rich spices
Palate
Bursts of tropical fruit and dried sultanas, warming smoke and waves of honey, malt, butterscotch and rich sweetness
Finish
Sherry-soaked fruit, cracked black pepper and sea salt. Long-lasting with layers of citrus sweetness and maritime peat smoke

Kilchoman Machir Bay: An excellent malt with enough smoke to be interesting but not so much as to require ‘concentration’ while drinking. I liked the body with subtle, distant hint of fruit (but I couldn’t decide which fruit). A very well priced bottle.
Nose of clean, earthy, apple tree buds in spring. Taste of pleasant smoke & maritime. More apple. Lemony vanilla. Fantastic!!!
Fantastic dram. Peat, maritime, vanilla. Light but not too thin.
Very elegant, tasty, moderately saturated smoky whiskey, there is a desire to buy it again!!
First purchase from here and very impressed with this Whisky. I'm no expert so I relied on the tasting notes and reviews which are spot-on.
