Jura 12 Year Old
Product Description

The core of the Jura range, aged for 12 years in American white oak ex-bourbon casks. The result blends the distillery's characteristic gently smoky character with sweetness, spice and dark fruit. A great introduction to Jura.

Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

  • Tasting notes by Billy Abbott, The Whisky Exchange

    • Nose

Smouldering cocoa nibs and rich rice pudding. Baked apples follow, sprinkled with spice and raisins, and drizzled with creamy chocolate sauce. Leathery touches develop.

    • Palate

Rich and rounded, with an initial burst of barrel char halted by milk-chocolate-covered raisins and toffee sauce. The char rumbles along behind, rising at the end with a plume of soft peat smoke.

    • Finish

Smoky bonfire-baked apples fade to leave a hint of mint and menthol.

Not as nice as the 12yr old it replaced as they have deleted the sherry cask finish . I don’t think I’ll buy this again, I’ll spend a bit more and go for the 14yr old rye cask, much better than this . Shame as I liked the old 12yr old a lot.

Big fan of this, you won't get better value at this price -light, fruity and a great sipper.

This new Jura 12yr old as you are showing is not finished in Oloroso sherry casks but only in bourbon casks, your description needs updating.

Probably one of the worst whiskys I’ve tasted. I’ve had other Juras that I love but this is appalling. There’s a terrible aftertaste that makes you feel you’ve drunk an oily ashtray.

As a fan of the superstition & 10yo I thought I'd give this a try. It's a nice easy sipping dram but abit underwhelming to say the least. It needs a drop of water to open it up, fruity on the nose & palate to start, turning mildy smoky, notes of burnt liquorice & cocoa on the mid to finish. Not bad but definitely prefer the 10 & it's cheaper?
