Martell Blue Swift
Product Description

An innovative eau-de-vie from Martell, which is made by finishing their acclaimed VSOP Cognac in Kentucky bourbon barrels. This finishing process adds rich aromatic tones to Martell's delicate, pure Cognac, layering the characteristic candied fruit and plum notes with vanilla and toasted oak.

This eau-de-vie, which cannot be called Cognac as the latter must only be aged in French oak, commemorates the fact that Martell was the first Cognac house to ship barrels of its spirit to America.

Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

  • Tasting notes from the producer

    • Aroma

We first notice gourmet aromas such as banana and caramelised pears. Then a subtle sweetness appears, and notes of vanilla and coconut mixed with spice and menthol are revealed.

    • Palate

Soft, round and gourmand. We taste deep and fresh notes of ginger and white candied fruits such as plums. We then feel the ample, smooth and long toasted oak finish from Kentucky bourbon casks.

Pleasing enough with a vanilla taste, this 'Spirit Drink' is rather like a mixture of Whisky and Brandy. I received my bottle as a present, however, it is possible that I would buy it for myself. This current trend for 'tinkering' with classic spirits is not acceptable to those long-term Cognac drinkers such as myself. I no longer buy Remy Martin VSOP because of such tinkering.
