One of our all-time favourite malts, Talisker 18 Years Old is a masterpiece from one of Scotland's greatest distilleries, and was named 'Best Single Malt Whisky in the World' at the World Whiskies Awards in 2007. Stunning balance of peat, spice and sweetness.

Producer's Tasting Notes
-
Appearance
Amber.
-
Nose
Rich and fruity – Victoria plums, greengages, perhaps dried orange peel – with some butterscotch or rum toffee and a thread of smoke behind. The smoke soon advances into the foreground and the toffee note is joined by a light mintiness. With water maritime characteristics emerge – dry boat varnish, edible seaweed. Still sweet; now with notes of iodine and the smokiness of an un-struck match.
-
Body
Full. Pleasant, smooth.
-
Palate
Sweet in front, then more assertive, with a whiff of smoke. The overall effect is warming. The development is towards smoke, coal-tar and toffee.
-
Finish
Medium length. Talisker’s characteristic chilli ‘catch’ in the finish is subtly present in the aftertaste.

Baked orange pudding sprinkled with cinnamon, pomanders and a trace of manila envelope. A silky mouth feel and develops into richer orange marmalade with burnt edges.

-
Toffee and rich peat smoke on the nose. The alcohol bite on the palate gives way to rich sweet peat smoke, some sea notes and plenty of peppery spice. Nicely rounded and complete. Some wood, too, suggesting its age. Like chewing honeycomb and smoky bacon at the same time. Long, spicy and peaty finish. Whisky doesn’t get much finer than this.

Elegant with fascinating balance between smoke and subtle sweet fruit. Ever changing in the glass and on the palate. Gentle waves of flavour, superb balance and a classic peppery finish. Seamless.

Bought as a replacement for a bottle I recently finished

This is a really solid whisky for those who like bold flavor. It tastes quite similar to Highland Park's 18 (which is also great) but with a little more smoke and spice. A warning, though, this is a whisky that novices probably won't enjoy due to the very extreme character. This is a whisky drinker's whisky.

If you like a rich and smokey whisky and are a fan of Talisker then this 18 year old takes it to the next level. The smokey taste on the pallet is amazing but then subsides to a sweetness with just the right amount of lingering smokiness.. A great addition to your collection

This is phenomenal value for an 18 year old. A delicious, multifaceted dram - well worth buying – and rebuying.

I Bought this for my father in law over Christmas and w’re steadily enjoying it! I’m no whisky buff, but this really is nice than anything I’ve had before! Lovely. Not a whisky for beginners to be scared of.
