Producer's Tasting Notes
-
Appearance
Amber.
-
Nose
Rich and fruity – Victoria plums, greengages, perhaps dried orange peel – with some butterscotch or rum toffee and a thread of smoke behind. The smoke soon advances into the foreground and the toffee note is joined by a light mintiness. With water maritime characteristics emerge – dry boat varnish, edible seaweed. Still sweet; now with notes of iodine and the smokiness of an un-struck match.
-
Body
Full. Pleasant, smooth.
-
Palate
Sweet in front, then more assertive, with a whiff of smoke. The overall effect is warming. The development is towards smoke, coal-tar and toffee.
-
Finish
Medium length. Talisker’s characteristic chilli ‘catch’ in the finish is subtly present in the aftertaste.

-
Baked orange pudding sprinkled with cinnamon, pomanders and a trace of manila envelope. A silky mouth feel and develops into richer orange marmalade with burnt edges.

-
Toffee and rich peat smoke on the nose. The alcohol bite on the palate gives way to rich sweet peat smoke, some sea notes and plenty of peppery spice. Nicely rounded and complete. Some wood, too, suggesting its age. Like chewing honeycomb and smoky bacon at the same time. Long, spicy and peaty finish. Whisky doesn’t get much finer than this.

-
Elegant with fascinating balance between smoke and subtle sweet fruit. Ever changing in the glass and on the palate. Gentle waves of flavour, superb balance and a classic peppery finish. Seamless.

So many better whiskies to be had at this price.

A wonderful whisky, but not remotely worth the price now being asked. Shameful behaviour by Diageo, I highly recommend looking elsewhere.

Lovely whisky, but don't support this shameless price gouge from Diageo. As someone else stated below, £80 to £175 in a year is daylight robbery.

Way to go Diageo. How to spoil an iconic product by profiteering. The recent bottlings haven't exactly been out standing.Well not enough to justify doubling the price.Afraid this will be consigned to history like Glenfarclas 25.Rating based on VFM

My favourite whisky of all time, brought back into supply now at double the price I paid last just a few years ago. Hope people will not rise to this outrageous increase, naked profiteering by Diageo
