Product Description
Matured for 14 years in amontillado-sherry seasoned hogsheads, this rich and fruity 2004 Cardhu has been bottled as part of Diageo's 2019 Special Releases. Aromas of caramel, hazelnut, almonds, pastry, waxed lemons, wood polish and raisins mingle on the nose. The palate offers notes of zesty lemons, burnt toffee, toasted oak, rich fruit cake and chocolate sauce, before developing warm baking spice and ginger cake flavours that linger in the finish.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
Billy Abbott, The Whisky Exchange
Nose
Caramel sauce and hazelnut brittle with a background of almonds and Italian nutty pastries – panforte bianco. The sweetness becomes fragrant but sharper, with wood polish and waxed lemons taking over. The caramel notes remain along with a handful of oatmeal and raisin cookie.
Palate
Rich and thick, with singed toffee and caramel sauce up front. Dark fruit-cake notes build, with burnt edges and a touch of glacé cherry. Chocolate sauce is poured on top before the addition of a sprig of mint. Soft spice and rich ginger cake complete things.
Finish
Spicy notes slowly fade, leaving dark chocolate, candied orange and damp wood.
Comment
An immediately sherried dram, with toffee and nuts jumping out of the glass. The palate continues that in spades – one of the lovers of sweet sherried drams.
Tom Ransome-Jones, The Whisky Exchange
Nose
Fresh, vibrant candied lemon; light and sherbety. Sweet, A touch of willow frond and nettle.
Palate
Bright and zesty before a rapid descent into seasoned wood, integrated nicely with grilled-orange notes. Sherbet lemons still floating around up top.
Finish
Everything stays; orange, wood, char and a touch of fresh greenery.
Ning Heywood, The Whisky Exchange
Nose
Caramel and shortbread burst through, backed up by cinnamon-baked apples, poached pears, blossom honey and orange peel.
Palate
Straight away there are notes of caramel, Cadbury’s Dairy Milk, orange zest and cookie dough. Grassy flavours build, bringing white pepper, hay, fresh ginger and summer flowers.
Finish
White pepper lingers in the finish, with hints of caramel, hay and dry orange oil.
Caroline Roddis, The Whisky Exchange
Nose
Toffee straight from the pan, lashings of vanilla fudge that veers towards millionaire’s shortbread. Red berry, malt and honeycomb notes are joined by lighter red grape notes that flow into delicate magnolia and rose aromas.
Palate
Oily and mouthfilling, with ripe toffee-smothered plums galore. Cinnamon is joined by coarse oak, softened by dried red fruits.
Finish
Soft oaky spice and lashings of toffee lifted by citrus and floral notes. Orange zest shortbread coated in brown sugar lingers.
