The Whisky Trail Silhouette series is a collection of three single malts and one single grain whisky from the Elixir Distillers Whisky Trail Silhouette series. The Whisky Trail is a collection of old and new casks that have exceptional characters and will take the drinker off the beaten path of whisky.

This set includes a 2015 Ben Nevis single malt, a 2013 Caol Ila single malt, a 1973 Carsebridge single grain whisky and a 2006 Croftengea single malt.

    • 2015 Ben Nevis Whisky Trail Silhouette

      NOSE: A veritable fruity feast! A porcelain bowl of pear compote immediately appears, followed by a dollop of juicy crab apple jelly. A squeeze of lime juice is sprinkled on to glistening strawberry sorbet, mingling with a tall glass of grape soda

      PALATE: Rhubarb and strawberry pie is fresh out of the oven, cooling on the countertop. A just-opened jar of boiled apple sweets, dusted with powdered sugar, mingles with indulgent blueberry muffins

      FINISH: A whisper of clove and cinnamon spice remains to tingle the palate

    • 2013 Caol Ila Whisky Trail Silhouette

      NOSE: Enticing salty air on a beach walk mingles with lime zest and swells of soft peat smoke. A dusting of desiccated coconut and a touch of aniseed follow on

      PALATE: Saltwater taffy from a paper bag, enjoyed on a windy day by the coast. Homemade lemon curd, spread on slightly burnt toast followed by an intriguing flintiness

      FINISH: Juicy, lasting and citrusy with traces of allspice

    • 1973 Carsebridge Whisky Trail Silhouette

      NOSE: Heaps of apple-and-blackcurrant jam delight the senses, mingling with cinnamon buns and digestive biscuits. Orange oil and dried cranberries mingle with split vanilla pod and well ripened banana

      PALATE: Glacé cherries and sweet, vanilla infused almond paste marry to complement buttery croissants and mouth coating honey. Wood spice combines with coconut macarons and candied figs

      FINISH: Caramelised brown sugar remains with plenty of clove and cinnamon. A hint of bitter rhubarb, ground ginger and tonka bean

    • 2006 Croftengea Whisky Trail Silhouette

      NOSE: Sea salted dark chocolate floats towards the senses, accompanied by charred mandarin and some grapefruit zest. Underneath, aromas of dried petals lend a contrasting softness

      PALATE: Burnt pineapple upside-down cake is drizzled with rich salted caramel and creamy chocolate sauce. Grated nutmeg and ground cloves combine to contribute a pleasant spiciness

      FINISH: Wispy smoke gently fading, with an echo of blossom honey
