An impressively-aged Glenrothes from the Single Malts of Scotland Marriage of Casks series, made with a combination of two casks - A hogshead and a sherry butt - filled in 1989 and 1990, respectively. Aromas of blackcurrant jam, leather, raisins, sticky dates, maraschino cherries, malt loaf and dark chocolate fill the nose, complemented by notes of stewed plums, raisins, charcoal, glace cherries, soft oak spice, liquorice, dark chocolate, ginger cake, crystallised ginger and sticky jam throughout the palate and lingering in the finish.
