Product Description
The first release in the Sailor's Home Island series, Horizon is a 10-year-old blended Irish whiskey that was initially matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks and finished in specially-selected ex-Barbados rum casks. Aromas of butterscotch, ripe peaches, ginger, vanilla, oak and apples fill the nose, complemented by notes of apricot jam, banana, vanilla cream, baking spices and sweet cereals throughout the palate.

I have a selection of mainly Speyside and Highland single malts that I tend to choose depending on my mood. Sometimes though the smoother palate of an Irish Whiskey is just what you want. I must admit that I was very tempted by the flavour profile of this Sailor's Home blended Irish whiskey release. In truth, I just had to have it! It is everything that the description says it will be. It is perhaps not the most sophisticated flavour profile that you will ever experience, but sometimes that is not what you want is it? This Sailor's Home Horizon 10 Year Old Rum Finish gives you a great big whiskey hug by surrounding you in some truly delicious smells and flavours. In my case they are the memories of my mum's kitchen and the tempting warm smells of her baking on a Saturday morning when I was just a small boy. The enticing aromas of soft vanilla and sweet butterscotch fill your nose followed by the comforting flavours of buttercream, banana custard and caramelised tart tatin. They all conspire to wrap you safely up in a great big, soft woolly blanket of innocent memories. Sometimes, all we want is a warm cuddle and this particular drink delivers that in spades time after time.
