This is the archetypal sherried Speyside whisky, matured entirely in sherry seasoned casks for a minimum of 18 years. A high proportion of European oak in the mix brings balancing spicy and nutty notes to a palate of dried dark fruits, chocolate, oranges and tobacco leaves. The slightest wisp of smoke on the nose, along with hints of dried herbs and aged tea make for a complex single malt that perfectly expresses the Macallan distillery character. A classic for a reason.

Deep rich colour and heady aroma, drank over ice. Quite strong sherry flavour from the oak cask. Not my favourite, personally I found the Macallan Double Cask 12 year smoother and more enjoyable.
I am not a seasoned whisky drinker. I tried this as it comes and I found it very harsh. It made my mouth and nose tingle, and it was difficult to concentrate on the flavour.
Nice colour and aroma with the Spices in this whisky. Great over ice and not too harsh. The sherry taste comes through and tastes perfect.
This whisky was light mahogany in colour with a sherry aroma, another harsh whiskey both in the mouth and as it goes down, much like the Macallan Double Cask 15 year old with the Macallan Double Cask 12 year still being smoother, for my taste that is, this had to be mixed to soften it as well. Based on this I would not buy again or recommend.
A luscious, creamy, rich and almost thick liqueur-like drink, with hints of ginger, spice, and liquorice.
