Customer Rating
Beautifully-presented bottle of Tobermory. The whisky is matured in Gonzalez Byass Oloroso sherry casks and the casks mature on the mainland before travelling back to Mull for the final year before bottling.

Tobermory 15 Year Old Reviews

Tasting Notes

  • Producer's Tasting Notes

Nose:  A lovely sherried nose with notes of figs, orange marmalade, hints of leather and a touch of smoke.

Palate:  Medium to full bodied.  Rich sherry fruit cake, milk chocolate, creamy toffee, light oak, a hint of white pepper creating a lovely spicy tang.

Finish:  Softly spicy, tingling with a nutty note, a hint of salt, lingering then gently fades.

Superb scotch. This is my ''go to'' whiskey and I find it responds best to equal parts water at body temperature. It melts in the mouth, releasing all its flavour. Keep it away from ice, as it is far too full bodied to be served cold.

@Mikko, This is the newer presentation of the Tobermory 15yo which was scored 93 points.

TWE admin, is this Tobermorry 15 year old Limited Edition or just Tobermorry 15 yo? In picture we see "Limited Edition". They are two different bottlings with huge difference according to Jim Murray.

This is sensational stuff! I'm a real Talisker/Islay man but, every now and then, my bottle of Tobermory comes out of the box for a really special treat! It's (so far) the only whisky I have found that responds well to a drop of water, normally I wouldn't think of it.

@andy: Tobermory 15 YO is more than just ''nice''. It is a phenomenal Island dram with great personality; it is unadulterated, it offers the complexity most 15 YO drams lack and as the most interesting of all, nose, palate and finish are flawless. It makes a great alternative to the most prestigious Islays, and is able to successfully challenge an Ardbeg or a Laphroaig. Hence the price tag.

this is nice but not worth the money. and at this price it's out matched by 18y highland park ,17y old pultney , 21y glenfarclas and the 17y old balvenie double wood

I had a bottle for Xmas from my wife, & i had a dram at midnight last night. Wow, what a way to start the new year. A really excellent malt.

As a lover of the standard 10yr old I didnt think scotch coud get any better, I was wrong!

  • 18 February 2011

I have tried a lot of sherried scotch and this is now my favorite. It is far superior to many of the Glenfarclas line including the 25 year old. I would rate it close to 95 and the body is just great. Just fabulous!

Just received a bottle as a gift from my pipe-band.Had a very wee dram. The best gift a former PM could ask for. Thank you band, thank you Tobermory.

I've always preferred Irish whiskey, until I tried this on holiday in Tobermory. It immediately became the most expensive whiskey I had ever bought. It tastes amazing and is beautifully presented with the wooden display case.Money well spent!

After my first tasting at the Whisky festival in Leiden (The Netherlands) it became my favorit single malt.

  • 17 November 2009

Might be the best scotch for the money I have ever tasted.

Compared to the standard 10 yr old bottling of old (somewhat cabbagey smelling...), this bottling is an absolute revelation for Tobermory. Toffee-apples on the nose and a big sweet robust mouthful with a long salty finish. First class.
