Horst Sauer and his daughter Sandra produce some of Germany’s top wines at their 37-hectare-estate in Franken. The Silvaner grape has long been a favourite of theirs for its lovely orchard fruit aromas, followed by thyme and white pepper on the nose. The palate has plenty of delicate florals and a grape-y note that makes it a wonderful partner with a light fish dish or a simple salad.

    Very good Frankenwein

    It's almost impossible to get frankenwein outside of Germany. Probably with good reason. They want to keep it for themselves. This is a lovely wine. An occasional treat, not an everyday tipple. A very good example of Sylvaner done right.
