Sutherland 6 Year Old Blended Malt / Thompson Bros for Whisky Show 2024
Product Description

Two of our favourite whiskies meet in this one-off blended malt created by Thompson Bros for Whisky Show 2024. Around 20% of the total volume comes from Phil and Simon Thompson’s Dornoch distillery – a tiny operation in a repurposed fire shed behind Dornoch Castle Hotel – and the remainder from a refill bourbon cask of Clynelish. Fans will be pleased to hear that this is packed with vivid soft fruits, stony minerals, oils, tiny industrial touches and a little hallmark waxiness.

Since emerging as distillers and bottlers in the late 2010s, Phil and Simon Thompson have championed a particular style of whisky associated with Scotland’s east coast. This blended malt is a perfect synthesis of the Thompson’s own Dornoch single malt and the instantly recognisable, waxy Clynelish. The label design was inspired by our very own Dawn Davies MW – buying director here at The Whisky Exchange and the owner of these two lovely cats, Percy and Sajous.
