Arran 10 Year Old Arran Barley
Product Description

This release marks the first edition of Arran’s Local Barley series. The Optic barley used in this whisky was grown at Bellevue Farm by the Currie family. It was then matured in first-fill bourbon barrels and second-fill sherry hogsheads, in proportions similar to Arran’s classic 10 year old expression.

This bottling launches an annual series that will showcase different barley varieties and cask types each year. The whisky offers vibrant notes of fresh herbs, citrus, aniseed, ginger, and buttery shortbread.

A standaout version for Arran and i assume that it is their attemlt at the springbank barely. Very waxy and full body texture. Its thicker, more of an oily waxy mouth feel than the standard Arran. One for the enthusiasts, more complex and intense. A hint of coastal salt/mineral + earthy/malt. Orchard fruit + citrus too. Ends with a bit of a green/peppery oak citrus. YUM

Superb. Really expressive, with aromas of bread & butter pudding and custard. Plenty of finesse on the palate, fresh and not overly muscular for a 50% offering. I hope this becomes a permanent addition to the range.
