Product Description
Trudernish marks the return of a 15-year-old to Ardbeg’s permanent range for the first time since 2020. A delight, Trudernish shows the development of the distillery’s famously smoky character over a longer period, as the peat subsides and softens somewhat for 15 years maturation in bourbon, new charred oak and oloroso sherry casks. In return, it gains creamy vanilla notes and a greater complexity, but is still unapologetically an Ardbeg.

A new angle on a firm favourite
A new Ardbeg release is always a cause for excitement and in Trudernish we have a permanent addition to the range. Aged 15 years, that extra time in bourbon, new charred oak and oloroso casks slightly softens the smoke and gives the whisky a creamy note that presents Ardbeg famously potent character in a different light.

What a unique expression (in a really great way)! The use of new barrels bring a fascinating nuance to the core Ardbeg taste. I’m enjoying it to the point where it might actually replace Lagavulin 16 as my regular pour, particularly with Lagavulin's recent missteps and identity crisis.

Really nice, liking the chocolate, vanilla and fudge terpene profiles on this with the backend peaty influence, Ardbeg done well with this one.

I had to try it. It's a fine whisky nae doot, but we all have our taste. It is sweeter and less smokey than I like and I will be returning to Corryvreckan for my next bottle. But as I say, purely a matter of personal taste.

That’s much more like it. An Ardbeg that tastes like Ardbeg. This is the best release for a number of years. Recent Ardbeg have been disappointing. The current 10 is a shadow of its original self and gimmicks like the smokeverse were one dimensional and basically terrible. This has put them back on track. There’s a depth to this that brings back the sea salt, toffee and liquorice vibe, while keeping its body. (It’s oily and not too thin). Recent Ardbeg have recently tasted far too young, even suspiciously the 10. Very surprised. This is excellent.
