A relaunch in fancy packaging for Deanston's single malt, previously famous as the whisky used in the much-missed Wallace whisky liqueur. Trivia snitched from the Malt Whisky Yearbook: Deanston is the only distillery in Scotland that is self-sustaining for electricity, being equipped with a dam and a turbine.Tasting Notes (1)
Fresh hays of summer, malty cereal, rich creamy toffee and honeyed heather balanced with sweet oak and barley sugar.
Smooth creamy sweetness with sumptuous hints of fruit, malty honeyed spiciness and soft vanilla.
Crisp and satisfying with a tingle of cloves which linger, then gently fade.

Wonderful Scotch - but can take a while to really appreciate. The neck pour was very disappointing - I thought I had made a mistake with this one, but from the second pour onwards, I was increasingly enchanted by the complexity of this bottle, especially for its age/price point. Hay, heather and sweetness on the nose, very smooth honeyed palate and a lovely finish with spicy dark chocolate and a hint of coffee. Just a drop of water (literally!) releases lovely lemon sherbet on the palate. This really is a whisky that reveals a different profile each time...well done Deanston!
Disappointed after all the good reviews thought I get a bottle. Floral, heather on the nose and palate, getting abit vanilla too, with a spicy finish. Was expecting more but to me it's very basic whisky to taste. I'm currently enjoying a cheap supermarket blend more, stars are for the way it's made.
Ordered this off the back of a couple of recommendations, very impressed. Beautiful, rich, oily texture. Multiple dimensions especially on the pallet and in the finish, definitely take your time with this one in order to fully appreciate. Beautifully balanced, oak, apples, butter scotch and toffee. Also a massive fan of the distillery's sustainable ethos. Non chill filtered, no colouring. Fantastic.
Well, I spent hours reading and watching reviews of this one, bought it today and was disapointed, I was looking forward to try this one out because it's said to be one of the best single malts out there, it is ralfy's whisky of the year (2020) and he gave it 89 points in his review. But oh, I am pretty sure my bottle isn't flawed in any way because it wasn't near any heat source in the liqour store. So I bought it, and it tastes like Jim Beam, no more no less. The flavour profile stands, but there is no richness or no smoothness of this whisky. I'm sorry, I so wanted to give this 4-5 stars as I expected but something went wrong. Regards, Freyr Sigurðsson (Iceland)
This is exceptionally good. I will buy again.
