We selected this single American oak barrel from among the hundreds of thousands of casks maturing in Havana Club’s warehouses. Legendary maestro ronero Asbel Morales oversaw the creation and bottling of this outstanding Cuban rum, which is offered without any added colouring or chill filtration. The result is a layered and generous spirit with a clear expression of the craftsmanship that has made Cuban rum famous the world over.
A Taste of Cuba
Havana Club has been the biggest name in Cuban rum since it first emerged on the world stage in the mid-20th century. Since then, it has carried the mantle of Cuba’s rich distilling history, supplying the light dry rums essential for making the perfect Mojito or Daiquiri and finely crafted expressions like this exceptional single cask. The Story of Cuban Rum
Cuba’s distilling history begins with the first sugarcane planted on the island during the Spanish colonial days. But it was in the 19th century when the distinctive character of Cuban rum began to take shape. The Maestro Roneros developed an elegant style based on column distillation, careful ageing and artful blending. It remains today a unique form of rum, refined but characterful.
