Product Description
This soft and sweet-flavoured dram is the ideal place to start to discover Royal Lochnagar, a favourite distillery of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, being conveniently situated close by Balmoral Castle. Royal Lochnagar was originally a key ingredient in the historic Vat 69 blend, but most of its production is now released as single malts.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
Producer's Notes
Appearance
Pale amber.
Nose
Not obvious to begin with. Planed wood, light toffee, boat varnish. Linseed oil behind, even putty, and later a lychee-like acidity. With water the acidity comes through (acid drops), and the nose sweetens. Still a pleasant fresh woodiness, followed by warm sand. After a while, coffee with brown sugar.
Body
Medium.
Palate
Pleasant; an initial sweetness is quickly overtaken by acidity.
Finish
Dry; medium-length, with an attractive lingering sandalwood aftertaste.
Tasting Notes by Dave Broom for Whisky Advocate
Diageo's smallest distillery and another that has worm tubs. The character here is grassy: think hay and straw rather than lawn clippings. There's just a hint of cereal behind, and a fresh, roasted spiciness. The palate has good central sweetness where you just get a hint of fruit. Light and fresh, and a good afternoon dram.

I found this whisky 30 years ago when holidaying in Tayside so decided to visit the distillery. The Whisky Exchange tasting notes are 100% accurate and I've been a fan eversince. This whisky is in my top 10 of single malts and is my go to for a summer drink with ice gently melting in the sun. Can't wait for a hot summer again.
I bought this as an 80th birthday present for my brother so unfortunately I've not personally tried it. However the personalisation we included on the bottle was there, delivered on time and very well packed. Will get my bro to review after his birthday at the end of November.
Yes ,Heaven on the tongue, smooth and sublime.
Excellent malt whisky. Very drinkable.
Enjoyed this with my father in law during my last visit to Braemar. A wonderful drop!
