Cardenal Mendoza
The owners of Sanchez Romate Hermanos began to make brandy in the 'Sherry Triangle' of Andalusia for their consumption in 1887. The drink soon acquired fame for its class and quality and was quickly sold under the name Cardenal Mendoza. One of the biggest soleras in Jerez, Cardenal Mendoza brandies are at least 15 years old, much older than most commercial brands. The name is a homage to Don Pedro Gonsales de Mendoza, a prominent historical figure, a counsellor of King Fernando II and essential in the unification of Spain and the explorations of Columbus.
