This unique Spanish brandy is aged, like a sherry, in a solera made from casks that previously held fine Pedro Ximénez and oloroso sherries, imparting an incredible richness and complexity to the spirit.

I can honestly say I adore the back notes from the sweetness of sherry caskets used in its maturity. It lingers nicely on the palette. It's smooth with a good warm finish. I love it and as hard as I look around, there's never any that really take my fancy for this price. Excellent value

Had it at Iberica in Canary Wharf - fantastic - absolutely fantastic, warming, smooth, and deep.

Can't believe all these glowing 'reviews'. Taste before you spend this much money on a brandy that is over the top, loaded with too much caramel and surely not everybody's taste.

Heaven in a bottle. I'm not a brandy fan, even, but this sets the bar so high that it floats.

I have tried it at my uncle''s house for years and its fantastic. SUPERB!! Don Q Gran A?ejo Rum is not a brandy or cognac but it is up there in my rankings as well.

First time I tried this was in Rome in 2009, now I have a bottle every Christmas, a real cockle warmer

the first time I bought a bottle, I was 24 ... that was 1976 ... I still consider this brandy the best I have swirled around my tongue ...

For me, Cardenal Mendoza is about the best brandy you can get for a reasonable price, although it is not cheap, being a super premium . I even preferred it to Gran Duque de Alba which is a close match. However, if you do not drink it within a long period of time, it will lose its alcohol and it will be no good. No resemblance to Cognac. This is one of the best Spanish brandies there is.

Am sipping it right now and it takes time to get used to. It is different than French and American Brandy. At first, the color, the smell and the taste remind you of a sweet wine but you get fooled at the finish with a long dry aftertaste. I do not know how to describe it yet because it is totally different but worth it. the nose is extraordinary and the taste is full and mouth filling.

Dave: We're based in London, so I would suspect that we count as UK stockist :)

  • Dave, 14 Jan 2012 14 January 2012

I agree with above comments, my favourite too. but is difficult to find in the UK. Does anyone know of a stockist ?

  • TWE Admin 3 January 2012

Sue: it shouldn't change too much in the bottle as it's high in alcohol. It shouldn't have got worse in the bottle though.
