Vodka is still the leading spirit across the globe, thanks mainly to its versatility and mixability. If you think that all vodka tastes the same, though, think again: there is a world of difference between a creamy-soft wheat-based vodka and an aromatic, spicy vodka made from rye.

With vodka, however, texture is another key factor, and distillers often filter their vodka through various substances – including precious metals, sometimes – to soften the mouthfeel of the liquid. If you’re serving vodka neat, try keeping it in the freezer – don’t worry, it won’t freeze – but it should develop a pleasant creamy texture when sipped.
